Top 10 Nuggets Taken from the EPIC Archangel Summit!

Top 10 Nuggets Taken from the EPIC Archangel Summit!

Happy Friday!

This past Wednesday (on World Peace Day,)I had the privilege of being in the audience for what proved to be a totally epic, ridiculously inspiring, heart-lit-up-on-fire kinda day.

It was the first ever Archangel Summit, and luckily founder and visionary Giovanni Marsico decided only a few years ago to give up any expectations, and give into all dreams.

And thank goodness he did… or the 1300 people that day, not to mention the thousands more he’s had at past events and in his Archangel Academy, would not have been touched in the way I know they were.

The line-up of speakers were extraordinary, and the audience members were passionate and purpose-driven entrepreneurs, dreamers, and change makers.

It may sound dramatic, and it kinda is!

I truly believe when you believe whole-heartedly in your mission, and you’re prepared to put in the work, you truly can change the world. Or at least, perhaps we can together.

Instead of trying to tie everything I gleaned up into a neat little bow, I’d like to share my fave nuggets from each of these powerful thought leaders (and for those of you who are extremely observant, yes, there are actually 11, not 10… think go it as a bonus for you!!!)

  • If world class was easy, everyone would be doing it. There is no traffic in your own lane. Messy is the price of legendary. ~ Robin Sharma
  • We give ourselves what we feel we deserve. It’s okay to be scared. We all have a gift and we need to use it. ~ Philip McKernan
  • Be a talent scout; amazing people become even more amazing over time. Never tarnish your word. Always invest in your relationships. ~ Jayson Gaignard
  • Over 40% of our everyday is shaped by our habits. Change your habits, and you change your life. ~ Gretchen Rubin
  • If you want to make one million dollars, serve one million people. Figure out your gift. Keep dreaming. ~ Giovanni Marsico
  • I don’t believe in Art. I believe in Artists. There is no such thing as writer’s block – it’s merely an inability to dance with our fear. ~ Seth Godin
  • You know when intuition has to eclipse logic. Don’t miss the magic. What is YOUR barnacle leap? (Check out this video she showed of the Barnacle Goose… a bit disturbing at first, however only happy endings… because ‘The risk of death by staying in the nest is greater than the risk of leaping before knowing if it can fly.’) ~ Natalie MacNeil
  • I encounter every lesson in life on purpose. Love is a metric. Love your tribe. Show your dance moves on the dance floor. ~ Jadah Sellner
  • Your limitations become your life. You can’t course correct standing still. Don’t wish it were easier, make yourself stronger. ~ JJ Virgin
  • You are the messenger. Every day we have the opportunity to extend the belief in someone else, in their humanity, and change their life. And you may never know about it, and it doesn’t matter. ~ Dan Martell
  • Care about people. HUSTLE. Put in the work. Know what you’re good at. Go for the ask. Don’t blindly follow the masses. Pay attention to who you are and who your kids are, instead of trying to mold them into something. ~ Gary Vaynerchuk

And now for some nuggets of my own.

Dream BIG. Believe. Say yes before you’re ready. Notice your fear ~ it only shows up when you’re playing at the edge of your comfort zone. (Click to tweet it out!) Recognize, own, and celebrate your gifts. And yes, you are enough.

What about YOU? You or I may not have been on that inspiring stage (at least not this year!) however we also have our own gifts to give, our own nuggets to share, our own legacy to leave. What will YOURS be? I wanna hear from you in the comments below.

When was the last time you defied gravity?!?

My week in pictures (T-B; L-R)… Good times at Socialight Toronto! Selfies with Seth Godin, Bruce Poon Tip, Dan Lok, Hal Elrod, Alexi Panos & Preston Smiles, Claudia Chan, & Josselyne Herman Sacco, all smiles with founder Theresa Laurico and other AMAZING peeps, celebration dinner with team at CN Tower, COW Niagara/Hamilton launch party, Women Living BIG at ifly going indoor skydiving!!!

So, when was the last time you tried defying gravity?!?

Last night, 13 of us did just that.

In fact, we didn’t just TRY, We DID defy gravity. Literally.

A brave group of Women Living BIG came together for our latest event – we were #playingBIG – and went indoor skydiving!

I was pretty excited about it… as I love getting a little out of my comfort zone and checking things off my bucket list ~ however even moreso I love empowering others to do the same.

Oh my goodness it was SO much fun! It was a HOOT!

Not only was it a hoot, it was an experience.

It was an experience in and of itself because, well, we went indoor skydiving! However the experience was amplified because it was shared with an amazing and empowering community of women.

Leading up to it, there were nerves and butterflies and lots of eager anticipation. I think it’s pretty safe to say we were all pretty darn excited, and yet weren’t totally sure what it would entail. And initially, we weren’t all fully comfortable enough with one another to share our honest feelings.

And then we zipped ourselves into those suits, stuffed in our ear plugs, tightened up our goggles and helmets, got into that anti-chamber, and everything changed.

All of a sudden an instant bond was formed as we shared this extremely powerful and liberating experience.

And as each of us took our turn defying gravity and ‘flying’, we got more and more excited, our smiles got brighter (my head hurt from smiling so much!!!), and our high fives and hugs got way more enthusiastic.

It didn’t matter where we came from, who we were, or what we did for a living… we were all fully there, sharing the moment, drinking in the experience.

We may have only spent a few minutes actually flying, and yet something shifted. Suddenly that wind swept us up, and we literally defied gravity; we flew.

It was empowering. liberating. invigorating.

We went around the group after we landed safely, sharing our experience in one word. ‘Limitless.’ ‘Exhilarated.’ Free.’

It’s not just about living big and flying in a vertical wind tunnel, it’s about what it means for your life and your business. Where can you go from here?

How we felt last night – limitless, free, exhilarated – is how you can feel every moment of your life if you choose to.

We can’t necessarily defy gravity every day, however we can use it as a metaphor for whatever force may be holding us back. It’s time to challenge your fears and limitations. It’s time to get real. It’s time to fly.

When was the last time you got a little out of your comfort zone, and challenged yourself to defy ‘gravity’?

What can you do TODAY to start? As I read in Hal Elrod’s ‘The Miracle Morning'earlier today:

Your entire life changes the day you decide you will no longer accept mediocrity for yourself. When you realize that today is the most important day of your life."

Today is the most important day of your life.

When you choose to defy gravity – however those imposed limitations show up in your life ~ you FLY. (Click to tweet it out!)

Happy Friday!

Shiny Object Syndrome?!? Three Ways to Squash it!

My week in pictures (from L-R:) Good times in Seattle speaking to the amazing Pacific Northwest branch of iaap, getting inspired at the Art of Leadership and hearing Amy Cuddy speak live (and meeting her!) with Heather Moyse, Leigh Mitchell and friends, the 3 finalists of the CAPS Toronto Chapter ‘Catch a Rising Star’ contest, learning lots at ‘What Mama Didn’t Tell Us About… hormones’ hearing the incredibly inspirational Orlando Bowen speak at the Oakville chamber YPEG event. Phew… busy week!

Shiny Object Syndrome?!? 3 Ways To Squash it!

We’re almost coming into the season of lights, giving, and lots of shiny objects. (crazy, right?!?)

However when I say shiny object syndrome, I’m not talking about a crazy obsession with glass ornaments or shiny balls.

I’m talking about those of us who are so full of ideas we all too easily get distracted, or we feel we need to go after the latest trend, or we get so excited by the next project we never actually complete what we are working on NOW.

The challenge? You’re a creative type – so of course you’re going to have lots of ideas swimming around in that head of yours at any one time. However, sometimes it’s due to other things that are going on around us, or in our own head. Once identified, you have the power to do something about it.

And if you are ever going to see anything into fruition, into the full potential it can be, you have to have crazy discipline and immense focus, and stick to one thing before chasing your next big idea.

If you really want to make a difference, you need to work on only ONE THING at a time. (Not that all of your ideas aren’t possible, simply not all at the same time.)

EEK! Easier said than done, right? I’m preaching to the choir here I know… including to myself!

Here are three ways to get your awareness on WHY you may be experiencing shiny object syndrome, and how to squash it.

  1. Comparitis

We often get distracted from our purpose, mission, or project du jour by looking at what everyone else is doing around us. And although this can be inspiring, it can also be dangerous!

How to stop it?

Avoid comparing yourself to others. Easier said than done, I know. However, you need to honour your own journey. Trust you are exactly where you need to be. And remember you are only ever going to be the best in the world at being you.

  1. Noise

It’s information overload out there! So many fascinating things to learn about, successful people to listen to, books to read, trends to watch. And it’s tough to stay focused and stick to the task at hand when we are competing with millions of bits of stimuli and ideas and advice at any given time!

How to stop it?

Step away from the noise every once in a while. Don’t sign up for a new program, teleseminar, or webinar, until you have implemented all you learned from the last one. And trust you will find what you need to learn when you need to learn it.

  1. Self-Doubt

When you don’t think your current idea or project is perfect enough, good enough, or you’re questioning it all together, may find yourself already thinking about your next idea. Not fair! Chances are you started what you’re working on now because you were passionate about it. And so you need to focus on that, and give your current baby a fair go.

How to stop it?

Connect to your why. Realize it’s not about you… remove yourself from the equation so you can come from a place of service. Surround yourself with people who lift you up. People who believe in you. People who will hold you up to your highest potential. And have some sort of ritual in place that connects to your true self… be it writing in a journal, reading your vision, meditating, going for a walk…

Shiny Object Syndrome, although it can mean you have a keen eye for nice things, it can also be detrimental to your business.

Step away from the shiny objects. Stop the self-doubt, the noise, the comparing. Stay on track. You got this! (Click to tweet it out!)

Have a FAB week!
