When was the last time you experienced a moment of unbridled spontaneity?

It’s good to make plans, to have routines, to follow schedules. Otherwise nothing would get done! AND, it’s also important to make room for a little spontaneity in your life. Because that is what keeps life exciting!

And that is exactly the theme of my July living BIG monthly challenge.

So, you could read about it, or you could simply watch the video!


Spontaneity allows for a little improvisation, thinking on your feet, saying yes to something before you know totally what you’re doing. It also allows you to be in the now, in the present moment, and to have fun.

You’ll never be ready. AND, you’re as ready as you’ll ever be.

You’ll never be ready. AND, you’re as ready as you’ll ever be.


I’ve got good news and bad news. Which would you like to hear first?

Let’s get the bad news out of the way.

You are NEVER going to be ready. For anything. 

What I mean is, you are never going to FEEL ready.

Whether it’s about starting that new workout regime, becoming a mother, saying goodbye to a loved one, or starting your own business… you are never going to be fully prepared. You are never going to have it all figured out. And you are never going to be without fears, doubts, or uncertainties.

It’s also never going to be the right time. Your ducks are never all going to be in a row, you are never going to have a big enough opening in your schedule, and your inbox is never going to be completely empty. (Side note: I have made a BIG effort over the past few weeks to get totally caught up on my emails and while I am not quite there yet, Im down to 82 in my inbox and only 11 unread ~ that is HUGE for me!!!)

Okay, now ready for the good news?!?

You are as ready as you’ll ever be. And as ready as you’ll ever need to be. For anything.

That’s right! Indeed you are ready NOW.

Perhaps that sounds like a bit of a contradiction? Maybe it is. And yet it’s true. You are never going to feel totally ready for anything, and so you’re as ready now as you’ll ever  be.

What does this mean?

You don’t need to wait until you are über confident in your skill set before applying for that job, know for sure that guy (or girl) you keep eyeing at Starbucks is going to say yes when you ask them out, or have all elements of your new project or initiative figured out before you launch.

We are never going to be 100% certain about anything. We will never be able to fully predict the successful outcome of our endeavours. And the perfect time to start will never magically arrive.

There is no point waiting to ‘feel’ ready. So it’s time to stop trying ~ because it’s just not going to happen!

John Maxwell said it best: “Nobody ever got ready by waiting. You only get ready by starting.” Stop waiting. Just start. You are ready NOW. (Click to tweet it out.)
