Today was a bit of a sad day.

I dropped off Mr. Linden back at school!

If you’ve been following his journey, you’ll know it hasn’t exactly been linear!

He started in the autism support program, was what they call ‘career-changed’ (ie didn’t think he was the right fit), and a little break to just be a dog.

Now as of this morning, he’s being tested for the vision services program.

And if I’m honest, don’t know what his future holds.

Will he become an amazing guide dog? Will he become an amazing pet?

I just don’t know.

So all I can do right now is trust the process…

Trust that his journey will unfold exactly as it’s meant to.

And got me thinking about my journey, and about yours.

About how often we want certainty before we move forward. We want the guarantee, the outcome, the clarity of exactly how it’s all going to work out.

But life doesn’t really work that way, now does it?!

Because even when we have a goal, even when we’re clear on what we want… the path there rarely looks the way we think it will.

There are twists, turns, and unexpected pivots.

Things don’t always go according to plan!

But maybe, just maybe, that’s actually part of the plan.

So here’s some food for thought: What if our job isn’t to control the outcome, but to stay connected to the intention?

To keep showing up, keep taking the next step, and to keep choosing what matters, even when we don’t know exactly where it’s leading.

When I talk about the 5 step process to engaging in Brave Conversations, the first two steps are:

  1. Set the Intention
  2. Detach from the outcome.

Maybe the same is true here. To stay open to what unfolds.

Not always easy, but powerful!

Because when we hold on too tightly to how we think something is supposed to go, we may be closing ourselves off to how it could go. To possibilities we didn’t think of, paths we didn’t expect, maybe even outcomes that might be better than what we had in mind!

And I’m actually seeing this all around me.

Inside 50 Days to Brave, women are showing up. Taking action, letting go of perfection, and trusting themselves a little more each day. Not because they have it all figured out, but because they’re willing to take action anyway.

So wherever you are right now – whether you’re waiting for clarity, holding onto a specific outcome, or trying to force something into place…

Maybe this is your reminder:

You don’t need to control every step, you simply need to stay connected to what matters.

👊 This Week’s Brave Action Challenge

Think of one area in your life right now where you’re perhaps holding on a wee bit too tightly to an outcome.

Maybe that’s a goal, a conversation, a timeline, an expectation…

And ask yourself:

What would it look like to surrender, just a little?

To stay committed to the intention, but open to how it unfolds.

And then take one small action from that place.

Maybe one of the bravest things you can do is to simply trust.

Cheering Linden on, and cheering YOU on, too!
